TOMATOES

Amish Red

Similar to Amish Gold (a cross of Amish Paste and Sungold).Meaty like a paste tomato but sweeter.

Flavor not anything special and not particularly high yields

Aunt Gertie's Gold

Big beautiful 12 oz. golden tomato for long season areas.Incredible flavor. Potato leaf

This tomato is very late in my garden with a modest yield but the flavor is so incredible that it has earned a permanent place.

Aunt Ruby's German Green

Beefsteak, green, indeterminate, 77-80 days. Bright green flesh weighing in at 1 pound or more. Spicy but sweet and juicy. This is an heirloom from Ruby Arnold of Greenville, TN.

Very good flavor, fair yield, late

Black Cherry

Beautiful black cherries, look like large, dusky purple grapes; they have that rich flavor that makes black tomatoes famous. Market growers report that this variety is an incredible seller, large vines yield very well. Very unique and delicious.

High yields of good rich flavored large cherry tomatoes

Black Plum

Plum, indeterminate, rich reddish-brown tomato. 78 to 80 days. Small plum tomatoes with a sweet, smooth and fruity flavor. Big six foot plus vines with loads of fruit

A garden regular for me. High yields, fairly early, great complex flavor for sauce

Blondkopfchen

Name of this heirloom means little blond girl. Plant produces phenomenal clusters of 20-30 very tasty gold/yellow grape-sized (1/2") cherries

Extremely high yields of very tasty, small yellow tomatoes. Kept producing until frost. Looking for extra room to grow this again.

Bull's Heart

Heart shape, blush-pink color, and lacy interior. An old Russian variety for those who love big, heavy tomatoes (1 to 2 pounds) with few seeds and great taste. (90 days)

Great flavor and texture, moderate yield, wispy foliage

Cuostralee

A French beefsteak heirloom that produces heavy quantities of huge (1-2 lbs.), red, blemish-free fruits that have intense, balanced flavors. Fruits are typically 4-inches across.

Didn’t get the yields I expected. Good flavor. Had a lot of blossom end rot

Green Zebra

Chartreuse with deep lime-green stripes, very attractive. Flesh is bright green and very rich tasting, sweet with a sharp bite to it, (just too good to describe!). Yield is excellent, 3 oz

Another must-grow. Bright flavor, heavy yields

Isis Candy Cherry

This tomato produces 1-inch round fruit, yellow with red tinge and marbling. Gold flesh. Typically a 'cat's eye' star of yellow on one end of fruit. The delicious sweet taste is rich and fruity.

Attractive tomato. Flavor O.K. Moderate yield.

Japanese Black Trifele

Attractive tomatoes are the shape and size of a Bartlett pear with a beautiful purplish-brick color; the fruit are perfect and smooth with no cracks. The flavor is wonderful, having all the richness of fine chocolate. Potato leaf

High yields great flavor, though not as deep as some of the other black tomatoes

Marianna's Peace

Potato leaf variety producing moderate yields of 1-2 lb. beautiful, pink beefsteaks. Dense, creamy, sweet flesh with rich complex, old tomatoey flavors.

As with other large tomatoes, not great yields in my part on the PNW. Great flavor

Paul Robeson

Russian tomato named after the operatic artist who won acclaim as an advocate of equal rights. This black beefsteak tomato is slightly flattened, round, and grows to 4 inches. Its deep, rich colors–a dusky, dark-red, with dark-green shoulders and red flesh in its center–distinguish it from others. Very flavorful fruits with luscious, earthy flavors and good acid/sweet balance.

Good yield, wonderful flavor

Pink Ping Pong

This heirloom produces amazing yields of sweet pink fruits the size of ping pong balls. Juicy and bursting with superb flavors. Great for salads, canned, or popped in your mouth off the vine.

Moderate yields, sweet not complex flavor

Purple Calabash

A beautiful, drought tolerant variety producing small to medium (2 1/2 to 3-inch), flat, deeply ruffled, chocolate-brown to deep-purple fruit. Intensely rich, almost wine-like flavor. Crack resistant and stores well.

Good flavor, moderate yields of inconsistent size, observed some cracking

Reisentraube

This old German heirloom was offered in Philadelphia by the mid-1800's. The sweet red 1 oz fruit grow in large clusters and the name means "Giant Bunch of Grapes" in German. It is probably the most popular small tomato with seed collectors as many enjoy the rich, full tomato flavor that is missing in today's cherry types. Large plants produce massive yields.

High yields, tasty.

Snow White Cherry

Ivory-colored cherry tomatoes that ripen to a pale yellow. Fruit is deliciously sweet, round, 1/2-inch and borne from productive vines.

High yields, hard to tell when the fruit were optimum but delicious  if picked at the right time

Sun Gold

. One of the best varieties of cherry tomatoes. The Sungold ripens to a golden orange, with a very sweet flavor. This tomato is popular in all climates as it produces in warm and cold conditions. Fruit matures quickly, and crops heavily throughout the warmer months.

I always grow this for its productivity and great taste. Prone to cracking

Tigerella

Tasty round fruit are bright red with orange stripes. The 2" tomatoes are quite beautiful. The yields are high even in cool summers and it starts producing very early. It also has good disease resistance.

Attractive, reliable producer of high yields, nice flavor
